I have been painting a lot of Rufous hummingbirds lately, possibly because it has been a long wet winter and their return signifies it is spring. The first buzz by my head alerts me they are back and summer is on it's way. Each year they always sound identical and I wonder, are they the same birds or do hummingbirds gather to practice humming every chance they get to perfect the hum?

I paint what I envision or experience and I strive to make my artwork entertaining for myself and others. When painting, my style wanders in different directions depending on my mood. I may paint realistically but really love to paint whimsically.
